I love this book! A boy who hates poetry comes to love and appreciate it, learning about different poets and types of poetry, through the course of the story, and, in the end, writes a poem of his own. Readers can follow his progress as he goes from reluctant participant to increasing interest. My favorite poem is the opener, in which he states, "It's for girls." I wonder how many boys really do feel this way about poetry? It's the perfect book for teachers to use to introduce a unit or a lesson
