Another fabulous installment in the trilogy. Plenty of adventure but also a real depth to the characters that makes them so compelling. Like The Golden Compass, this one has an abrupt ending that only reminds you how much the three volumes are really one big story.

Shoulda stuck with Lyra as the main character. Crummy ending.

As soon as Iorek Byrnison devoured the body of his old friend Lee Scoresby, I was hooked. Book went by so fast I barely noticed. That Will character is tough to swallow though; Lyra is a believable (barely) 12-year old, but he's not. Far too mature.

I dreamt about this book every night while I was reading it. Vivid doesn't begin to describe it. And then it only gets better...!
