watch your fucking back, sloane crosley...this lady is funny-funny, not "boys tell me i am funny at parties because i am pretty" funny.

i am so glad that kelly read this before me and it encouraged me to pick up my ARC and get into it far earlier than i ordinarily would have. BUT NOT EARLIER THAN I WOULD HAVE HAD I ACTUALLY WON THIS THROUGH THE FIRSTREADS PROGRAM, WHICH IS HOW THIS SHOULD HAVE GONE DOWN, GOODREADS!STOP WITH THE SNUBBING ALREADY!

Weird, my first review of this disappeared. Anyway, I wasn't interested in it enough to finish the audio version or find out if the print version is better. It was so disjointed and the narrator's voice is not to my taste. I recognize that others found it hilarious, so I must conclude the author's sense of humour doesn't match mine...and that's OK! To each her own! But +1 for Audible, because they let me exchange it for something else. ...more

If you enjoyed Bossypants, but wanted more taxidermy then you should definitely read this book. Jenny Lawson (TheBloggess) is HILARIOUS. Just head over to her blog and read a few entries, you'll see. And if you saw the giant chicken, Beyonce, on Pinterest, then you already know just how wonderfully ridiculous and awesome she is.

I loved this book. It's laugh out loud funny.

My feelings about this book have evolved as I’ve read it. I began the book and immediately dismissed it. It's not that I didn't like the book. It's that I didn't find it funny like others who just couldn't put it down. I don't know if it's because I couldn't connect to Jenny or if it just was not my type of humor. Every time she interrupted the narrative and spoke to the reader, using expletives, I thought it was a cheap comedic ploy and I just wanted her to get back to it. There were moments wh ...more

Fans of Jenny Lawson's blog, The Bloggess, should definitely take a look at her memoir. While I find that I prefer the shorter soundbites of the blog to a full length book, her mad humor and offbeat worldview remains intact. An example? This post never fails to make me laugh out loud.

I liked this blog-turned-book, there were some laugh out loud funny moments, but I didn't *love* it. The jokes start to wear a little thin and there's not a lot of depth when she's discussing really serious topics like her anorexia that she just breezes over. It was a little disconcerting. Maybe you need to have read her blog?
I never thought I would laugh so hard at taxidermied animals, however. ...more

More like 3.5 stars. Love Jenny Lawson, and much of this book was laugh out loud funny, but I think I may enjoy her more in smaller doses ( which is why I like her blog).
