83-year-old Etta sets out one morning to walk to the ocean, just 3 thousand kilometers away from Saskatchewan. Her husband stays behind, reversing the situation during the war, which might have been WWI, when he left and she stayed. The story flashes back to the war, and the love triangle in their past. A little magic realism fills in the fraying ends of the characters lives in the present. All in all, a beautiful story.
