This novel in verse by a British author is about Sam, a boy who feels guilty about doing something mean to a friend, and how that act and that friend change him. His teacher assigns the class to write a poem about something in their lives, so Sam writes a series of poems, some in blank verse, haikus, limericks, and free verse, and one as a concrete poem.
