This story is about a group of teens who are trapped in their school during a terrible blizzard, one that dumps 18 feet or more of snow over a period of days. I almost put the book down and gave up reading it after the first few pages because I found the narrator, Scott Weems, so annoying. I realize that the author was trying to make Weems' voice sound authentic, but, like, his use of "like", even outside of dialogue, was, like, very irritating. Though it didn't really live up to its potential, this was a good read. It had a few draggy bits, but near the end I raced through it to see what happened. Too bad the end was rather unsatisfying, as there was a decided lack of resolution.

YA fare...quick and interesting...much to quick and easy of an ending for a "disaster" read though.

Raced through this book. A totally absorbing, chilling (heh) survival tale told with a (mostly) authentic teenage voice. It gets pretty grim but it wouldn't have felt realistic otherwise. Would recommend to reluctant/boy readers.
