Very good. It takes awhile to get going - at first I wondered how much there could be to say about a scribe, but I got really into the drama of Ester's story, both the philosophical debates and the events of her life. There ended up being quite a lot going on, with many strands that tied together in satisfying ways. The fact that I was in real suspense over what was in the last folio speaks to how well the author drew me into the world of 17th century Jewish London.
