As usual, Ibbotson's latest is a great blend of the cozy and the realistic. War is at the forefront of the story in one sense, but in another it's all about how the characters react. We've got the classic Ibbotson heroine, well-intentioned and likeable without being a goody two-shoes. I listened to this because I had nothing else on audio for a few days...to tell how much I liked it, I quit listening when I only had 1 cd left to go...:(
