Except for Laura Ruby. Nope, she's a storyteller. This is a wonderful story, unlike anything you've seen before, and she's telling it to you. A story that flows like water, and you are caught up in it and can't stop. Three impossibly engaging young people - and a fourth. A New York City clearly beloved and known, but transmogrified. The Underway (Subway) has all the right names and stops, but it goes places in interesting ways. The sidewalks glow at night from the solar panels beneath them. A fascinating alternate-history mystery, with a few things solved and lots left unresolved for the next book. Recommended for fans of mysteries and adventure/fantasy with good world-building.
