Fluff. Unsympathetic fluff, at that. I did not like Anthea, our "heroine" or care about her "plight" of not having enough money to support the desired lifestyle of the elite and having to get by with just her beauty, fancy house, loyal servants, and supportive mother.

A charming little book, very much in the style of an Austen novel. I keep seeing it called a combination of PRIDE & PREJUDICE and I CAPTURE THE CASTLE, which is very accurate, though Kindl certainly brings her own clever writing and plotting to the board.
When this book started, I didn't think I was going to like it. Characterization improved as the book progressed, and I really liked it!

Obviously inspired by Pride and Prejudice, I wish the protagonist had been a more sympathetic character. It's hard to get excited for and about a girl who proclaims herself to be one of the most beautiful young ladies of the land - let the other characters paint that picture for us and it would be a more enjoyable read.

A cute story that pays homage to several Austen novels. Nothing too memorable here, but it has a beautiful cover and was a fun, quick read.
Charming, clever, and very, very funny.
