I think what I really liked about this book besides the romance between Horse and Marie was the relationships between the women.
You start off with Marie leaving her abusive, cheating husband. When she returns to get her things, a woman she had previously deemed "THE WHORE" (Emphasis hers) helps her escape. They bond briefly.
