July 8-9, 2016 - Audiobook of Key of Light by Nora Roberts - 10 hours, 40 minutes (640 mins) - Book 1 in the Key Trilogy - I’ve read this series before, and I have to say that the "solution" to the problem facing the heroines is the most NEBULOUS of all the trilogies I've read. Like I NEVER would have figured this one out in a million years. *shrugs* I guess that's why they call it fiction!! But Malory and and Flynn (and Moe the dog) are the BEST! :) So cute together!

A solid 4.5 stars.

It had quite a lot of "woo-woo" in it (as Eve Dallas would say), but in a Circle Trilogy way, not in a magical-realism way (which I sorta hate).

Also, have I mentioned lately that I LOVE SUSAN ERICKSEN? Because I do. Not only does she have a freaking AMAZING VOICE, but she spells her name with an E-N, like my maiden name (Andersen).

Oh, right. So, Malory, Dana, and Zoe are all in a kinda precarious state, job-wise. Malory and Zoe have just been let go and Dana's on the cusp (and quits her job at the beginning of her book (#2)), and in need of some financial assistance... Anyway, so they're all invited to this big mansion outside of town and told a story by the man and woman there (Pitte and Rowena) about three sister demigoddesses whose souls were captured and placed in a box and have been trapped there for a REALLY long time... and that box has 3 keys that can only be turned by mortal women.... yadda yadda. And Pitte and Rowena will give them each $25K if they search for the keys, and $1 Million each if they find them. They fairly readily agree. Each woman will have a month to find their key (so, the story takes place over a 3-month period)... And there's a bad guy, Kane, who will try to stop them. Oh, and if they fail, a year of their life will be taken (although they don't know which year or whatever).

Anyway, so Malory goes first. She's into art. She's run an art gallery place for years. She's always wanted to be an artist.

I don't really know how to describe the book. She meets Flynn (Dana's half-brother), the town's newspaper owner/editor-in-chief/etc., who helps with research and stuff, thinking he'll get a story out of it in the end. He's got a huge dog, Moe, who becomes a big character in the stories, actually.

It's all kinda... I dunno... elusive. It's paranormal in a not-very-tangible kind of way. A lot of the book is about how Malory, Dana, and Zoe decide to go into business together and doing a lot of research and realizing that this "story" they've been told is REAL. I can't even really remember what happens, but that I really liked it. *shrugs* Weird. Anyway, it was good! ...more
