I love when a book takes me out of my reality and plops me square in the middle of another. One Came Home is that book. The setting alone made me wish with all my might that I might live in the middle of nowhere before cell phones and Pinterest just so that I could look up into a night sky and hear silence.

A middle grade frontiering story. Can't say I've ever read something quite in this genre before, but this was an interesting read.
I admit I had to double check what kind of pigeons this book was about before getting too deep into it. Our main character, Georgie, is an excellent shot. Here interests are also stereotypically male in that she also wants to run her family's store. I'm not going to lie, this was not exactly the fastest read for me.
