I forget where I first heard of this. When I was killing time at the library by flipping through an issue of the Jewish Chronicle, maybe? Anyway, I think the beginning is stronger than the ending, and that some of the things that happen are telegraphed too much - but it might not seem that way to a member of the target age group.

I really loved this historical fiction novel of a child shipped out of London for safekeeping during World War II. I was unabashedly sobbing at the end!
