This is an utterly charming and delightful book about a little girl living in Minneapolis, afraid to finish a book because she thinks it's going to have an unhappy ending. But it's also about mustering one's wits and rolling with the punches, both very admirable qualities.

My daughter and I read this together and it really bugged her that there were inconsistencies in the illustrations when compared to the text. I got REALLY tired of reading "Julia Gillian" over and over again. The book wasn't bad, but I'd not read it again.
