Probably 3.5 stars to be accurate.

Working on reading Newberry Award Winners that I missed in my childhood. This may take me until I'm 100.

This was a welcome, feel good, innocent, escape from harsh real world problems and a wonderful innocent jaunt into the wholesome lives of the Pye's and their beloved dog, Ginger. The mystery comes when Ginger disappears! Oh my!

Some of today's youth may not understand some of the references made in the story written in 1951 and set around that same time but the

Read to my girls this year -2019 and we all loved it so much. I read it to my boys about 9 years ago and loved it then. Eleanor Estes has such a charming writing style.
