Great literature? No, probably not. But I'll be damned if "Wideacre" isn't a fun, wild, sexed-up joy ride of a book, with an impossibly strong femme fatale seducing men far and wide.
"Bodice Ripper" sums it up, but it's a bodice ripper with substance; think Emmy-winning "daytime drama"...this book's more All My Children than it is "Passions".
I could have easily given it five stars; I didn't only because then where does that leave books like "Jane Eyre" or "The Good Earth"? ...more

Surprisingly raunchy AND (at the end) creepy, but nonetheless compelling with interesting and occasionally complex characters. Actually, the characters and the plot were not particularly amazing, but the writing was good and I found myself quite drawn in, eager to read what stupid mistake the heroine would make next. In a way, the heroine of this book is the same heroine of all this author's books (that I've read), only the circumstances have changed.
