The 3 stars are for the writing quality alone. As a huge fan of Burroughs, it was really disappointing to dislike one of his books. I thought the story was fractured. It didn't flow well to me, and I kept waiting for something to happen that never did. I listened to this on CD, and in the past, I've thought he was one of the best authors that I had ever heard read. Not so this time around. Really, really sad stuff here. Damn! Burroughs' other books deal with difficult themes, but tend to have a strong thread of wacked out humor running through them. This one is just sad.

This was all right, but not NEARLY as good as Augusten Burrough's other books I have thoroughly enjoyed! (Dry, Running With Scissors, and Sellevision).
