I read this while recovering from Covid and while feeling especially grumpy about uncomfortable side effects of Paxlovid. The Penderwicks were exactly who I needed to take my mind off my woes. They are a delight – I loved them all and loved their endearing, quirky family rituals. The relationship between Batty and her BFF Hound Penderwick was wonderful.
