This is a novel by a part-Indian author, now dead through suicide. I fell in love with it. The book follows three generations of women as they tell their stories. The characters are flawed and tragic and the three stories wove together and complemented the others extremely well. And once you get each character's point of view, events as they were described by the previous narrator begin making sense. A pretty good book about three Native American/mixed heritage women of different generations. Phew, I had no idea about Michael Dorris - this may be a case of the writer being more interesting than the book! Apparently this novel may have been written partially or even almost entirely by Louise Erdrich.
