Well! I just listened to the audiobook version of this like 2-3 weeks ago (again... March 2013), so this is a LOT fresher in my mind than other books I'm attempting to review! SEBASTIAN!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HIM!!!! He's freaking awesome! I think I said what I needed to say in 2010, but MAN, I love Sebastian. And his uncle is SO GICKY! *shudders* Blegh! Plus, I loved seeing Olivia and Harry again! :)

I love that moment when Annabel finally decided that there is no way in hell she can marry the Earl. And the end scene.... *snorts* HILARIOUS!! :) Good times!

SOOOOO cute! I'd completely forgotten what happened in this book! I gotta say, I TOTALLY identify with this heroine! An ex-boyfriend's mother once told me I had great birthing hips. Yeah. I only wish I was kidding. (Although I have to say, I've actually given birth now, and it was pretty true.)

Anyway, I think the description I gave below is sufficient, but I feel like I need to re-emphasize the utter DISGUSTINGNESS of the Earl. BLEGH!!! But Sebastian totally makes up for that! And Sebastian's big secret is AWESOME!!!!!!!! Loved it again!

I love Julia Quinn! I thought What Happens in London was great, but this one was even better! It was funny and endearing and just an all-around feel-good sort of book. Julia has a way of making you fall in love with her characters, so you really find yourself rooting for them and caring about their happiness and well-being.

The heroine, Annabel Winslow, is from a really large country family and her dad died not too long ago, so she needs to make a really good match as soon as possible to ensure her family's well-being. So her grandmother has found this Earl for her to marry who is like... ANCIENT.... not to mention TOTALLY repulsive! But he's desperate to marry and beget a new heir (after his only son died), because he DESPISES his current heir, his nephew and the story's hero, Sebastian Grey.

It's just really really cute. Plus, (view spoiler) is HILARIOUS and ADORABLE! :) I thought the hero and heroine fell in love quite naturally, and for the right reasons (i.e. not solely because of physical attraction). It was lovely! ...more

A lighthearted Regency romance that concentrates more on the characters than the manners or the sex--which I appreciate.

Annabel has aristocratic relatives, but is penniless herself. To maintain her large family, she agrees to marry an elderly and lecherous Earl--only to fall in love with his nephew, a former soldier turned novelist. Unlike most books in this genre, the author actually put some effort into making each character unique. They have actual interests and opinions, and they talk about ...more

Exactly the sort of fluff I was in the mood for. Lovely, fun little story, which is not particularly exceptional in any way. Basically, Sebastian Grey falls for Annabelle Winslow, and Annabelle falls for Sebastian.

I can see the appeal of Julia Quinn and she does have witty characters. But this didn't feel true to period to me--it felt like contemporaries in Regency dress. So, sticklers would not approve. ...more
