Some parts were well done - Finch's development, and I believed Violet's attraction to him, but I was also distracted by some stilted dialogue, Violet's quick change from the bell tower to being willing to ride in a car, and a few other little things. I can't decide if Finch's family was believably disfunctional or if his mom in particular was just too much. Violet's parents felt a little too textbook to be true. Loved it.
This is very well written with well developed characters. It doesn’t flinch from the complexity of life and emotions. I echo the other reviewers who called this heart-wrenching. Also, I really need to read book summaries more closely- this was not the best to read during the global pandemic.
