This was less lyrical than many of Atwood's book (and less complicated), but still very enjoyable. I finished it in two days--the tension is kept throughout with the perspective switch between the two main characters. I am always amazed at Atwood's ability to flesh out characters so completely--Stan, for example, was an unlikable hero and still someone I bought as "real." Same thing with Charmaine--her wide-eyed, not-so-innocent innocence made for a great character. I saw the twist coming a mile ...more

Was she trying to be funny? Dystopian voyeurism?
Nearly 200 pages in, I finally gave up.
