Shelves: own, 2010, memoir, recced
A sweet, comforting read, alternately funny and touching, and appealing largely due to the fascinating style Opal uses. It wasn't meant to be poetry, but it certainly reads that way.

I know there is some controversy about how much she actually wrote when she was a child, as opposed to how much was changed or added when the book was compiled years later, but while I don't doubt that there was some tweaking when her diary was (allegedly) reconstructed from scraps of paper, some of the language and
