Despite this being a paranormal teen novel, there are no vampires in this book, or teens with destiny. Sam is a college dropout working at a burger joint with no direction in life, when a game of potato hockey in the parking lot breaks a car tail light and sets into motion a really bizarre chain of events. The owner of the car is a necromancer named Douglas, and eeeevil.

Sam is a necromancer, too, (but not evil) which he was not aware of, but Douglas doesn't believe him. He sees Sam as a threat,

I think I would have liked this better as an audiobook since the book's narrator has such a distinctive voice. I probably missed a LOT (if not most) of the humor since I probably read it too fast. It was an OK book and would make a good movie since it had a lot of action and suspense. I think it would appeal to all teens who enjoy a good adventure story with supernatural bad guys and a main character who didn't realize he was a necromancer since his mother had bound his powers when he was young. ...more

A very funny and clever YA. The writing was excellent, and the story kept me engaged all the way through and eager to find out what happens next!
