Given the types of books that I buy/read, I guess it's not surprising that I accidentally read two "soft-apolcalyptic" (is there a word to describe this genre already? Did I just make one up? TRADEMARK!) books back to back, but it wasn't by design in that I had forgotten what both were about. Anyway, they were very different, but both were excellent.

The Age of Miracles was recommended to me by a fellow at work who knows I love to read. I generally trust Chris to steer me to books I don't normally go for. I loved this book, but it was much like the recent remake of Jane Eyre.
Both of these are beautiful but the endings made me go "THAT'S IT?!?"
The movie because I was that's not how it ends, which is a whole other story in my reading/movie quirk and the book because I just wanted more. ...more

I loved this book. It is at once complex and simple. This is not a thrilling, heart stopping story, but a delicate emotional book that has so many things happening so gently, that I didn't realize it until I tried to tell someone what the book was about. A slowing of the earth, the ecological, geographical, and scientific results of that.
