I loved this book. It is at once complex and simple. This is not a thrilling, heart stopping story, but a delicate emotional book that has so many things happening so gently, that I didn't realize it until I tried to tell someone what the book was about. A slowing of the earth, the ecological, geographical, and scientific results of that. Man, I wanted to like this more than I did. It started off super strong and I was hooked in the beginning. It seemed to fall apart in the same way that the Earth was crumbling in the story. A watered-down, less fantastic try at the story in Susan Beth Pfeffer's "Life as We Knew It."

This is really two stories in one. It's the story of the slowing of the earth's rotation and what happens as the days lengthen from 24 hours to 25 then 50 then 72 and more. I don't know if the science behind all of this is true, but it was a fascinating look at what might happen. It's also a coming of age story.
