I have mixed feelings about this one. It was a good concept, but I'm not thrilled with the execution. I feel like it should have been about 150-200 pages shorter and it took much too long for the story to actually get started.
That said, once it got going, the story flowed. I found it more disturbing than scary, and rather disorienting in places. It was reminiscent of The Shining and Duma Key (yes, I know Duma Key was published later, but I read it first). I wouldn't call it a must-read, but it's ...more
