I remember hearing about this book when I was a teenager, but for some reason I never read it. Now that I'm almost forty, I can see clearly that this book wasn't written by a teenager. The words, phrases... just none of it was written by a teenager. It was, however, likely written by an adult trying to sound like a teenager...

I read this book over and over and over again-my friends and I were truly obsessed. It's funny now to hear that there is so much criticism about this book's veracity as a diary. I guess I never really thought about that as a tween/teen-I never wondered if it was true or not-I didn't really even think about it I guess. I was fascinated/horrified by the whole drug culture portrayed in this book and for me at 11 or 12, it was truly a cautionary tale-I was terrified (albeit in a watching a train wre

I couldn't wait to read this as a teenager, and it is still going strong with girls today.
Alice gets introduced to drugs at a party, and it's all downhill from there. An extremely entertaining worse-case scenario that somehow isn't completely believable.
