This book is crap on its own. But those of you old enough to remember the latter portion of the 70s might remember that Beatrice Sparks, the "editor" of Go Ask Alice, also "edited" a bunch of other alarmist books aimed at teens, all supposedly taken from teenagers' diaries. One was called "Jay's Journal," and was purportedly about a teen who gets involved with Satanism and eventually commits suicide to escape the horror of it all.

This is supposed to be a true story, but who knows?

It's the alleged diary of a teenage girl who gets in with a drug crowd, to her demise. There was also a made-for-TV movie based on the book.

It was a scary read at the time, but I don't think it ultimately had any huge effect on me.

All I remember about this book is that in middle school, you had to get permission to read it. While working in the library, the librarian actually *suggested* that I read it. I felt so honored that an adult thought I was mature enough to handle it, even without asking to read it.

I rated it for what I thought of it at the time I first read it -- young teen drug porn. Silly, but it seemed dark and glamorous.
