Sex, drugs and rock & roll pretty much sums this book up. You are taken for a walk down a pretty seedy path that these underage rock phenomes travel. What an eye opener if you think it is all sunshine and roses for these girls as they try to make it big in the music industry. It’s a great look at the reality that many of us can only dream of. You want sex…check, in abundance in every way shape and form. You want drugs…check, more than any addict could dream of. And last but not least rock & roll Sex, drugs and rock & roll pretty much sums this book up. You are taken for a walk down a pretty seedy path that these underage rock phenomes travel. What an eye opener if you think it is all sunshine and roses for these girls as they try to make it big in the music industry. It’s a great look at the reality that many of us can only dream of. You want sex…check, in abundance in every way shape and form. You want drugs…check, more than any addict could dream of. And last but not least rock & roll…double check. They are touring and making their music just as they had dreamed they would. As with anyone the age of these girls you can only imagine what it was like to have no one there as a moral compass and then to add to the situation they were trying to come of age while they were climbing their way up in the rock scene. Is it any wonder the girls sampled about every pitfall imaginable?

I admire how Kyle has such a love to play the music that means everything to her. Liz still comes up with the songs for the band, Vicki has taken the drug usage to the point of dire addiction, Kelly is keeping herself closed off and Barbie; what can you say about Barbie? Oh, let’s try “bitch”. You would think that this is the one person many could despise in this book but nope. You have the ever slimy Peter their producer who got the girls together in the beginning. Any guy who would call the girls the names he did and didn’t think twice about degrading them moved to the shit list along with Barbie. Oh, but there’s room for one more and that would be Andrew their road manager. He also became an albatross for these girls. His main job seemed to be drugging them and having sex with them and not necessarrliy one at a time.

On The Road shows you the whole journey the girls go through now that the band is formed and they are on the road touring nonstop. They had to learn the ropes pretty much on their own because if there was anyone who could take advantage of them seemed to do so. And talking about taking advantage of, what the hell was the deal with CJ. The CJ/Kyle relationship I really had a hard time with. I wanted Kyle to be with a guy she loved and I had thought at various points he loved her too. CJ put Kyle threw the ringer in the relationship area. He would pull her close just to push her away again. Then again, wasn’t this what Kyle was doing with Bad Dog one of their roadies? In both situations everything was mutual but with one of the parties hoping for more to come of the relationship. You have to give it to Bad Dog though because he was the one who “rescued” Kyle when she needed it the most.

During this book we have the girls starting to self-destruct and Kyle was trying to stay true to her music; the one thing that Kyle loved more than anything else. Music didn’t let her down like everyone else seemed to be doing. I cannot wait to see how Kyle moves on from here and do any of the other girls continue with the rock world. And for CJ, when the hell is he going to come around and realize that he maybe needs Kyle as much as she needs him. I cannot wait for On The Rocks!

No one, and I mean NO ONE, writes sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll like Jade C Jamison! On the Road continues from where On the Run left off. The Vagabonds start their tour and we get an all access pass to what their life is like. There is a plethora of sex, drugs, drama, divas, and of course…rock! In book 2 the girls are growing up and dealing with deception, drug addiction,sex and rock and roll. My heart breaks for Kyle every time CJ leaves to go on tour. I love her character and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. ...more
