I received an ARC copy of this book and I must say if you have not read any of Jade's books yet you need to start with this one! This is Jade's best book to date.

BULLET is gritty, real and believable. I liked how/where the story starts, with the journey through the book being (as others have said too) an emotional rollercoaster.

Well Done Jade. You have done it again.

If you love Rock Stars read BULLET.

I really enjoyed reading this and I love Jade style of writing.

I can't remember ever disliking a male character in book as much as I hated Ethan!
As for Val, well shes young, very naive, weak and I felt she was lacking in self respect. All of things he did to her are unforgivable and he gets away with it. But she does grow up towards the end.

I was routing for Brad from the very beginning, much nicer more likable character. Oh I forgot hes a hot, sexy passionate rocker!

I am all about the rockstar romance, and I know well that there are a lot of directions that can be taken. This one is quite different from most of those, but I found it a fantastically addicting read. That certainly doesn't make it any easy read, and if you are looking for fluff, you need to look elsewhere. Also if you are looking for sleazy rockstar erotica, though this book contains some, this probably isn't what you are looking for either.

I won't try to tell you this is an easy read, because it is very dark in places, and more than it's fair share of angst as well. I actually read a lot of negative reviews about this one and have to disagree with all of them...those reviewers have their right to feel as they do, but I have the right to feel differently, even if I may agree with them on a few points. I guess it gets 5 stars from me, because I didn't have to stretch my imagination far to see any of it in reality. Valerie's dedication to Ethan may seem stupid to many, but I guess I just feel they are lucky to have never had someone broken in their life. The moving back and forth from past to present didn't bother me in the slightest. I felt it worked well woth this story. And, no, personally I didn't fall in love with Ethan, but I can understand how Valerie did. And those that question how a girl who grew up in a strict Christian home could listen to metal music? That just makes me think they know absolutely nothing about metal or teenagers. Those who thought the book was too long? I didn't notice as I read it pretty much in one sitting. But enough ranting about negative reviews, let's move on to why mine is positive.

These characters all have their demons, much as every person I have ever met has demons. Some are more intense than others, but I don't know anyone who has made it past childhood who han't accumulated some. Yes, some deal with them much better than others, but there are certainly a large number of Ethan's in the world, and it does seem that a lot of them are drawn to the arts in one way or another. Valerie is a naive young girl away from home for the first time her freshman year in college. I guess I remember those days a bit too well, because I empathized with her, and as Brad told her a number of times, I respected her. I could feel her pains and I may not be able to say I agree with all her decisions, but at the same time I can't say that I wouldn't have made most of the same decisions she did. She admits that she made poor ones a number of times in retrospect - I believe we can all say that about our younger years, especially when she thought she was in love. I am finding it very difficult to write this review without spoilers, but since I absolutely hate reading them, I will find a way to get through this without them.

There are not a whole lot of really happy times in this story, but they were engrossing and I think the fact that Ms. Jamison can write the tough times so well says a lot about her abilities as I writer. I am not a writer, so I can't say for certain, but I think it would be much easier to write a fluffy happy story. I am positive as a reader that a fluffly happy story wouldn't hit me as deeply or stay with me the way I am pretty sure this one is going to. I have read other works by this author that are a lot lighter, so she is quite versatile, but this one certainly hit a deep place inside of me.

The music parts are well written as well, which is something I will quickly take points off for in this genre if I don't feel that way, especially the performance parts. I have known all the stage personas related in this book, and she does a great job on all of them. Songwriting isn't my forte, but I feel she did a great job explaining the process there as well. There are some really great sex scenes as well, but none seemed gratuitous, which is something I am also rather picky about.

So, for mature audiences only for explicit sexual situations, drug abuse, references to child abuse. Highly recommended for anyone prepared for a deep, more than slightly dark and gritty read. ...more
