I think there were some good ideas in the book. Like some of the individual concepts like nanobonding with animals, the Breaks etc were interesting. But they weren't fleshed out well or were poorly fleshed out.
There are so many other sci-fi books out there that do a good job of the various elements of this book. This book just seems rushed and poorly developed in comparison.
The last third of the book felt like a rush compared to the first two thirds. The pacing was very off. ...more

There was a lot going on in this that I wanted to like, but it just didn't come together for me. I didn't care too much about any of the characters, and the plot didn't seem to be going anywhere until the last couple of chapters (I thought it was just the set up for a multi-book series maybe) ...more

I enjoyed the story although it finishes very abruptly and feels like it requires a sequel. However, I didn't enjoy the world building. The logic and research is lacking. How is Bangkok powerful when it'd be one of the first cities under water? Why is so much land gone? How do you justify building a massive city in the Arctic when there are limited resources? I feel like most of this story could have been set in a coastal or island dystopia instead, which would have simplified the world building
