This book was an interesting one.

I found it to be a slow read...but it somehow still kept my attention. Possibly because I haven't read many books in this genre, so I found its slow style to be endearing.

The best part of this story was the complicated relationship between the Sisters Brothers. Otherwise, it was pretty dry. The story was solid, though lacked direction for much of it, and was not particularly exciting. The characters and situations were funny at times, but either I missed the humour or it was infrequent. There were no interesting women. And sometimes the plot just meandered. The longest chapter was about a minor character's life, which was foreshadowed as exciting and strange, but ...more

I was really entertained by this book in spite of my initial wariness. I found Eli's narration to be engaging. I am still disappointed by the one-sided depictions of all non white male characters. ...more
