What Members Thought
A Thousand Spendid Suns has a series of lovely characters exposed to some of the worst conditions on the planet. Hosseini manages to make you feel for his characters in a way that kept me tense for the entire book; worried how they will survive the series of wars that have ravaged Afghanistan since the Soviets invaded. I haven't empathised with characters in this way for a really long time.
