I waited several years to read Water for Elephants in spite of the fact that I owned the book and it sat on my bookshelf where I glanced at it daily. The circus has never been a subject of interest to me, but the other night I picked it up and started reading. I was gripped by Jacob's story immediately. I finished the book in three nights of reading and turned the last page with the biggest smile on my face.
