If I could give this book more than five stars, I would. It has everything one could want -- romance, intrigue, mystery, a murder, and a little bit of humor. The characters are instantly real, and the plot is fresh.

I could go on for days and days, but I am going to stop right now so you can go read this book. You MUST read this book.

What a charming book! It is about a boy who literally runs away to the circus. It is based on the circus of the 1920-30s. What an interesting topic and the characters are well developed and you fall in love with most of them and have extreme hate emotions to some of them. This is just what a novel should do and I think it is a must read. No wonder it is on the New York Times Best Seller list, one of the best books I have read in a long time!

Parts of this book had me laughing out loud, not a good thing in the middle of a Doctor's office. I couldn't help it. The character's description of his aging body was cracking me up.
The book was very good. I enjoyed it all the way through. The ending was a little silly but I believe books don't always have to make perfect sense to be good. Many of the books I love my husband would hate. I think he will like this one. It's not too girly.

I really didn't care for this book and at one point, I was going to stop reading it. I've only done that once in my life! I'm not sure I can put my finger on why I didn't like the book. I think I just didn't really care about any of the characters, except, perhaps, the elephant. I have to say I was glad to finish. ...more

What a wonderful story! Vivid description, sympathetic characters, interesting plot--this one had it all. An interesting, well-paced discovery adventure that left me wanting more but still answered my questions. I'd recommend this one to anyone. ...more

Best book I have read in a couple of years. Just love the way it goes back and forth between present time and the past. And gotta love the main character.
