I am glad I got this book at the library and didn't pay for it. I didn't like it very much.
All I could think about was, "What is WRONG with these people?" I understand that sometimes life is painful, but this drug it on endlessly. Everyone made bad decisions that could have been rectified. Instead they all chose to be whining martyrs.
I guess I found that to be annoying.

I'm giving up and putting this in the DNF pile.
I couldn't get past how WRONG the father was. I know that these sorts of situations were probably reality more than once. I know that this can be a great social commentary. I don't care. He was wrong. And every time he had an opportunity to tell his wife the truth he opted for more lies. When I could get past that I couldn't decide whether or not to forgive the nurse. Yes, she saved the baby from a nasty institution, but then what? What if dad had h ...more

I read and read and couldn't put it down, but not because I was enjoying it. I read because I was sure there had to be twist at the end that would make this story tolerable. Something that would bring it all together. No such luck!

I thought it was a good book. Entertaining and fascinating to see into the lives of the people touched by one man's decision.
