I do not consider myself any kind of expert on literature. I don't judge a book by the 'class' of the writing unless it is so abhorrent that it ruins the story for me. That typically happens with dialog or too many room descriptions. That being said, I liked this book for the easy to read story.
Were the characters deep? No. Was the story line gripping? No. Was it symbolic? Maybe a tad, but not really. Did I learn anything from it? Nope.

This was a different novel than I would normally pick up. I am apart of a book club that chose it for this months selection. I thought it was good and a different take on what you would think a normal vampire book would involve. It is a sweet love story between a human and a vampire. Of course they meet on common ground and the questions she has for him are just what the reader wants to know about this mistical creature of sorts. Anyway, a good quick read. I think I will read no 2 in the series

I started this book on the recomendation of miss morgan that since i used to watch buffy on TV ,i might like. at first I was not impressed. seemed too much like a romance novel, too lovey dovey etc. but when it got down to the story and the characters of the families and other vampires it caught my interest enough that i went right out for the sequel which i am enjoying. very fluff writing but a quick guilty pleasure read.

The prose was clunky and simplistic, at times repetitive.
The characters where one-dimensional. Bella was a dishrag and Edward a little too much like a stalker. There was little character growth. Even the plot was somewhat predictable.
I couldn't put it down.
I have no idea why I loved reading it, but I did. Clear your schedule, turn off your brain, and jump on the bandwagon. It's fun! ...more

This was a fun summer read and I've become fascinated with the entire series. It's not just a "vampire romance" and has some great literary content if you feel like diving into it all!

Not sure what the hype was about (actually I didn't hear the hype but heard that there was hype), but this book was okay. I'm not a teen, but read it anyway.

I love YA literature. Stephenie Meyer does a good job of fleshing out her characters. You can feel Edward's angst... I love it.
