I’d never heard of the band Sleater-Kinney before reading this book, and I’ve never seen “Portlandia,” so I did not come to this memoir as a fan of Carrie Brownstein in any way. I read it because it was Emma Watson’s summer pick, though I’d heard of the book when Kurt Andersen interviewed the author on his radio show, Studio 360. The show is about the creative process in arts, science, and technology, so Carrie Brownstein, as a musician, writer, and actress, would naturally have plenty to say. I
