This book is really good. I had to look up what religion the main character was following because I was getting so mad. I'm a Christian and a lot of times Christianity is portrayed as judgmental and rigid. I was glad to know that the religion in this book was not true Christianity.
This book is all about character growth. Rachel has to learn to believe in herself. This story is her journey to finding herself.

What a powerful book! Raised with 8 brothers & sisters, Rachel (17) is expected to prepare herself to be a dutiful wife & mother. What a bunch of rot!!! Thankfully, she is caught using the computer to contact another teen who rebelled against their church and runs away when confronted with being sent to a "camp" where you are brainwashed with Scripture all day. Lovely book. I really liked the direction it took - I expected one thing but the way it played out was different, and I really liked that. Its exploration of Christianity and God verses fundamentalist excess was very good, while staying grounded in being Rachel's story.
