This is one of those where I appreciate what the author was doing, and I actually really adore the way the book was written, but I don't like it. I don't connect with anyone (even though this type of character/story is usually totally my thing) and kind of felt that the way some characters were written (especially Angela) actually bordered on misogynist. I don't know if that's the case or intention, but it bothered me. It would make a good novel to open a discussion about a lot of issues, though ...more

An awful book. Why do YA authors think teens needs a sex manual? I found the book crude and annoying. Couldn't wait to finish it - good thing it was short. So Jude was gay and attended a HS where it was definitely not tolerated, so his mom was a pole dancer with multiple men in her life - it was crammed down out throats and I was just not into this book. Mean girls were mean boys - very mean. Knew the ending was coming, just not how it was going to happen. ...more
