This was a great introduction to a lot of ladies with whom I wasn't familiar. I loved the really graphic illustrations that accompanied each one page bio, and my only real complaint is that I would have liked to read MORE about all the women featured. ...more

I am HUGE fan of acknowledging movers and shakers in the feminist arena. My favorite thing about this title? It's hopeful. It looks to the future and sees the historical record for what it truly is: Something to learn from and add to. ...more

This book was a part of a Top Books for Reluctant Readers list and it definitely belongs there. This book was short and sweet. It's a great book for a child to browse through to look for a person to do a report on. It's also a great book for anyone just wanting to know history and learn a little bit about some amazing women that changed America. This book made me want to read more on quite a few of the women mentioned and I think it would cause the same reaction in younger readers. ...more

I really enjoyed this, especially the simple art of the women featured. I did wish it had more info on them, even just added some biographical information (dates of birth, etc.), but as an introduction, it's very good. ...more

New favorite! This book was fantastic - I love that it featured such a variety of women, I love that it praised them for their inner strengths rather than skills/talents, and I ADORE the way that the book simply and in a straight-forward manner addresses racism, sexism, homophobia and other social issues. I want to give one of these to everyone I know! Would be a great gift for teachers, a baby shower, a graduation - anyone :D
