Combining humor and depth, fantasy and science, this clever book with likable characters was an enjoyable surprise. For someone inbetween Amulet, Vol. 1: The Stonekeeper and Rat Queens, Vol. 1: Sass & Sorcery.
Update: 1/26/17: I just finished the audiobook version last night, and while it has some clever production choices, I feel it lacks in comparison to the graphic: the tone especially felt wrong to me. If you have the choice, go with the print version. ...more

Second read: As a full cast audiobook, this was a totally charming delight. It's very short (just over 2 hours), and I think it would make a really fun family car ride listen; I consider it YA, but there's really nothing in it that younger kids couldn't listen to: no swearing, some violence, no sex. It might get a little scary towards the end for young kiddos, but mostly it's fun and funny and PG rated.

This was a fun read. I love Stevenson's illustrations, and Nimona is such a unique character. It's a nice break from your typical YA female protags and makes me think about "The Young Elites" in the way that it explores the grey between good and evil. I will definitely be recommending this, and I can't wait to see what else Noelle Stevenson comes out with (I'm already a Lumberjanes addict ;D)

I really like the story, the humor and the unexpected serious turn the story takes. I'd love more to the ending if possible, more exploration of who Nimona is, but it's a great story.
Update Feb 11 2017: Listened to the audio version. I'm amazed they did such a great job with a comic book version! They manage to get the story across even without all the visual cues, mostly with a lot of sound effects. Such a cute book, and in the very best way! Nimona's a bit of a brat, but I love her anyway. And Ambrosius Goldenloin and Lord Ballister Blackheart? I want to give them hugs, they're so sweet. Fun, super-fast read with snarky humor, an evil institution, science, codpieces, shape shifting, and gosh-darn-it, some really nice things to say about forgiveness and friendship.

Nimona is the perfect one shot graphic novel.
Set in a medieval-ish universe where magic and science coexist, the book's characters are gorgeously layered and their stories are my favorite blend of comedy and tragedy. There are supervillains, shape-shifters, romance, and a shadowy government conspiracy.

Nimona is a shapeshifter. That's all I can say that is positive about the book. I didn't like Lumberjanes and I didn't like Nimona. The story is lost on me in GN form.

The phenomenal web comic finally available as a print collection! Movie rights have also already been purchased, so hopefully we'll be seeing more of Nimona soon. A funny, thoughtful exploration of identity, and the anger, shame, hope, love, and fear that go into every person's journey towards inhabiting their true self more fully. Every main character went from the instantly recognizable - and categorizable - caricatures at the story's beginning to multi-dimensional, believable whole people; th
