This book surprised me. It is set up like a case study reading medical, police reports, and found footage. I don't think I've read anything quite like it. I'm a huge fan of psychology and paranormal so it was huge surprise that this book had both. ...more

I do not understand how this is a HUB book. I'm actually really disappointed in the way that mental illness is blended with the supernatural. I know that Kurtagich has a note at the end about a family member who suffers from DID. Despite that, I still think that there is a need to be honest about the fact that mental illness is just like any other bodily illness, and claiming that the supernatural is to blame discredits the validity of the illness and is reminiscent of witch trials and other per ...more

The audiobook is so well read. It's easy to see why it made the Top Ten Amazing Audiobooks list. Not an easy feat for a psychological thriller. The ending (the last 20 minutes or less) was a little anticlimactic, especially after all the "Johnson Incident" buildup Kurtagich did throughout the book. I think it didn't entirely work for me because the diary entries and video camera footage that worked r

Not sure what I thought about this one. It was an audio book. The investigation into the fire and deaths was done through a diary, e-mails, newspaper articles, interviews with other students, doctor's reports, & video clips. Very unique way of writing a book, but it did work. Would rather have read it than listened to it. Kaitlyn/Carly was a disturbed individual, one appearing during the day, the other coming out at sunset. Very creepy at times and some graphic violence. ...more

I listened to the audio version, which is amazing. Creepy, disturbing, and I love that it doesn't answer any of the questions for sure. I do think it dragged a little in the middle, but the audio was so good it didn't matter. ...more
