Audiobook review
I listened to this book per the HUB Challenge rules and I'm glad I did. I don't think It would have received three stars if it depended on my persistent page reading. This book is told through four stories with a mystical harmonica as the link. The stories progressively get harder to read and less interesting to follow. To make this book better, the last two stories could've been shorter and there could be a little less happily ever after. ...more

I was really into this book until the ending. What can I say? I don't like tidy endings. The audiobook was nice for the most part, although the singing and some of the harmonica playing got a bit tiresome. I think I keep going back to the same thing - there are some truly remarkable books about WWII (The Book Thief, anyone?), so why do people even bother trying to compete?
Overall, it's a 3. I won't read it again, but I might use it in reader's advisory. ...more

FLAWLESS audiobook production. The music woven throughout was magical. This is one of those stories where you feel like someone is squeezing your internal organs the feelings are so intense. I did a lot of crying in the car.
