Really good! I did not read the first bk, and didn't feel I was missing information. I read other review that said it was unnecessary to start with #1, as they are more companion novels since book one focuses on a different character than book two, and I agree.

Thorn is a killer - so says the man who trained her to be the best fighter. She is given a 2nd chance when the truth comes out about the death. But now she has some harsh lessons to learn. She wants to avenge her father's death. On the trip to the other side of the world to form allegiances, there are far too many fight scenes where, just in time, the hero(ine) is saved. The love interest, Brand, got a bit much also. Too long with too much filler.

A good solid book - I really enjoyed the characters here, more than I did in the first book, though I loved seeing the first book's characters come back. I like the story too, both as a follow-up and as a standalone (I think it could be understood without the first book, which is great).
