Neil Gaiman'ın kendi tercihi olan metinden okudum, bittiğinde iyiyi yaptığımdan emin olamadım.
Ben en genelinde British olanı Amerikan olana tercih edenlerdenim. O yüzden bu kitabın benim için epey değişik bir tecrübe olacağından emindim.
Kitaba birkaç sebepten bayılmadım:
- Adı gibi Amerikandı sakız gibi uzamış halleri. İngiliz versiyonlar işin özüdür (yani dizilerde en azından), bu değildi.
- Kitapta evvelce Lolita'da da irite olduğum, bilmediğim coğrafyanın yollarında pek bir gezip otoyol bağlant ...more

Amerikan Tanrıları o kitaplardan. Neil Gaiman, kitabın önsözünde bahsediyor. Kitabı okuyanlar ya çok seviyor, ya nefret ediyor. Neil Gaiman’ı sevip, bu kitaptan nefret eden bir sürü insan var. Amerikan Tanrıları’nı onun magnum opus’u olarak görenlerin sayısı da en az bir o kadar. İşte bu yüzden, belki de bir kitapçıya girdiğinizde zaman ayırıp önce ilk bölümü orada okumalı, isteyip istemediğinize karar vermelisiniz.

A book which starts by stating that only gods are real and anyone else is fictional ends by making the humankind more real than ever.
Yes, we are sick of all your nonsense gods. You can never get enough.
Of course this is not the only opinion I had while reading the book, but now that I have finished it, it feels like a dream, possibly because it is written by the Sandman. It is a terrifying, beautiful and awakening dream. I am glad I have seen it. (Now it's time to watch the series.) ...more
