I kinda cheated a bit and looked to see if this had won any awards right before I read it. It's won 2 awards - one for audiobook and one for being a New York-related story. If you want to read something similar that won bigger awards, McCourt's Angela's Ashes won the Pulitzer for biography/autobiography.
