A great retelling of HC Andersen's The Snow Queen, which (to my mind) improves greatly on the original, in that the MC, Gerta, finally realises that Kay was never really worth it, but that a tall and scary bandit girl might be. In the end, in true fairytale tradition, it's all the things she has learned along the way that helps her succeed, even (or perhaps especially) the things that appeared as setbacks at the time.
